Ingredients

  • Cheese ravioli – I love the Rana Giovanni brand personally. They have tons of flavors, spinach ricotta would also be delicious!
  • Broccoli – Broccoli pairs so well with the lemon garlic flavors going on. It also adds beautiful color to the overall dish.
  • Lemons – Lemon juice and zest help make the sauce extra lemony.
  • Garlic – Tons of garlic for flavor.
  • Shallot – A shallot for a mild onion flavor.
  • Red pepper flakes – Pack the heat! A touch of red pepper flakes adds a kick. This is optional, though.
  • Olive oil and butter – Both are used to make the lemon garlic sauce.
  • Bread crumbs – Any bread crumb will work, but seasoned panko provides the best crunch and flavor.
  • Parmesan cheese – Grated Parmesan adds a wonderful salty, nutty bite to the buttery bread crumbs.
  • Parsley – Finish the dish with fresh parsley. Highly suggest! It freshens the dish.

How to make Lemon Garlic Ravioli & Broccoli Bake

  • Prepare the ingredients: Wash and cut the broccoli. Mince the garlic and shallot. Zest and juice the lemons. Get the other ingredients out so they’re ready to be used during the cooking process.
  • Prepare the garlic lemon sauce: Add butter and oil to a large skillet. Add shallot and sauté for a few minutes. Add garlic and sauté for an additional minute. The garlic is added after the shallot to prevent burning. Next, add the lemon juice, lemon zest, red pepper flakes and black pepper. Let simmer for a few minutes. Turn off heat.
  • Prepare the ravioli: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Salt with 1 tablespoon salt. Boil ravioli according to package directions. Add broccoli florets about 1 minute before the ravioli is done. Drain and add the ravioli and broccoli to the lemon garlic sauce.
  • Prepare the buttery bread crumbs: Melt butter in a medium bowl. Add panko bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese and mix well. Sprinkle on top of the ravioli.
  • Broil: Place the skillet under the broiler for 3-5 minute or until the bread crumbs are golden.
  • Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedge!

Tips for Success

  • Do not over boil the ravioli. It should be cooked al dente so it has a slight bite to it. The package directions will inform you on how long to boil it.
  • Try and chop the broccoli evenly so it cooks evenly.
  • Prepare all the ingredients ahead of time. This helps prevent mistakes and makes the cooking process so much easier.
  • Taste for seasoning. Salt and pepper to your liking.
