Well it’s raining cats and dogs here. So glad I’m sharing this Strawberry Sunrise Smoothie with you.
No really though, I am! It’s about time we have something sunny and bright in our lives right? Spring is technically here, but it has yet to show its beautiful face, so I am currently focusing on strawberries to get myself through it. I have been buying them for weeks from Mariano’s and they have been decently priced and very good! Bright, red, tangy and sweeeeeeet.
I eat a ton of strawberries – with yogurt or oatmeal in the morning, as a snack in the afternoon, and often for dessert in the evening. I am a big fan and I’m talking BIG FAN of strawberry topping. I make it all the time and put it over frozen yogurt. I have been meaning to share it with you but truthfully, the pictures just aren’t quite right yet. Strawberry topping deserves to be photographed on a beautiful sunny day, and well, beautiful sunny days are rare in these neck of the woods. This is why we are focusing on a bright, cheery, sunny smoothie today!!
This strawberry sunrise smoothie is creamy, sweet, and tangy. Talk about simple too – add frozen yogurt, frozen strawberries, frozen banana, orange juice and apple juice to a blender and BAM! Strawberry Sunrise Smoothie. If you have kiddos, you probably have all these ingredients in your house – it’s a perfect healthy treat for them.
I love all smoothies and I’m totally into kitchen sink smoothies – the ones full of spinach, kale, fruit, yogurt, some sort of seed, and whatever else you got in your fridge, but I would consider this more of a “healthy dessert smoothie.” You can enjoy it at night after a meal and it will satisfy your sweet craving. You can enjoy it in the morning (Vin did!) for breakfast. I made one for lunch just the other day and brought it back to work to sip on. It’s an all-day smoothie people!!
I ask only one thing. Use a pretty ripe banana to get the FULL banana flavor. The flavor just won’t come through if it’s not. If you peel the banana and then slice it before putting it in the freezer, it’s much easier than peeling a frozen banana. If you follow me on INSTAGRAM, you will know what I mean… I thought it was funny – literally laughing my booty off. Go ahead and do the same with the strawberries, slice them and then put them in a freezer bag. That’s the hardest part my friends…slicin’ and freezin’.
Ugh! It’s so smooth!
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cup apple juice
- 2 scoops frozen yogurt

- Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Yum, this sounds absolutely perfect for lifting spirits for the season. While it’s not raining here(yuck), it’s still so cold! I could use a little pick me up. Thanks for the scrumptious idea!
