Hello there! I’m starting a new series as part of “The Sweet Stuff” about my life. I am hoping to share a weekly or bi-weekly post about all the little and big things that are happening in my life right now.
I went back to West Des Moines Iowa for my friend, Laurie’s (we call her Lo), bridal shower. On Sunday my dad picked up cinnamon rolls from The Machine Shed for all of us to munch on for breakfast. These cinnamon rolls are RIDICULOUS! They’re huge, like a pound each, and delicious. I like to heat mine up in the microwave for 30 seconds. If you’re near a Machine Shed, stop by and get a cinnamon roll!
Downtown Des Moines Iowa! I know…it’s so big! I love it though.
I brought Izzy Bear back home with me. This is us cuddling in the morning in my very cool PJs. By the way, jersey knit PJ pants from Victoria’s Secret are amaaazing – you should grab a pair.
The Bear loves sitting on my baby belly. (heart melting)
And of course we played.
My sister was back in Iowa, too! The kiddos are on Spring Break and what better way to spend Spring Break than at Gram and Pop’s Pop’s house? This is the first time I’ve mentioned that my sister and her husband had a third baby! This is baby Violet. She is chunky, smiley, and incredibly sweet.
We like to hang out on soft blankets.
On to the bridal shower! We held it at my parent’s house and transformed the house into a “Mint To Be” theme. My friend Katie made this adorable ladder decoration. Is that not cute or what?
My friend, Ali, made this adorable Mint To Be sign. Sorry for the bad lighting. It was very cute, though!
And of course, the spread. We had fresh colorful fruit kabobs, dill pickle ham rolls, an assortment of cheeses, pool dip with crackers, and mint puppy chow. Not pictured is cucumber water and mojitos!
I’m so obsessed with the Iowa plate. I want an Iowa one and Illinois one. Represent!
So. Funny story about the dill pick ham rolls, which were my responsibility, by the way. I made extra knowing 50 would not be enough and placed them on plates outside to keep them cool because the refrigerator was packed. It was a really chilly day, or so I thought. People started to arrive and enjoy cocktails and food. The dill pickle ham rolls went fast, because duh, they’re so delicious. So I went to grab more from outside and…
They were ruined!! The sun had come out (without me realizing it) and actually started to cook the ham or something. The ham turned white. They were soooo gross – warm, soggy, and slippery. Ugh! I had to throw them all away. Let’s just say I’m never using outside as a “cooler” again.
But, nonetheless, everyone enjoyed the snackies.
My sweet friend, Kilee, is also getting married this Spring. A few weeks back we celebrated her bachelorette party in Galena, IL. I have never been to Galena so I was incredibly excited to see it. It was GORGEOUS. Even though the trees were bare and the grass was still brown, it had this openness and quaint small town feel that I just loved. This is a picture from one of the Winery’s we went to. Imagine this in the Fall?
I’m definitely going back. Not to mention the downtown area is adorable and I saw like 5 chocolate stores.
No need to explain this.
She must have been cold?
