We love all types of fruit crumbles in my house. I would say it’s our favorite type of dessert. Peach crisp is no exception to this and is so comforting and delicious. Fresh peaches are sweetened with sugar and flavored with cinnamon and nutmeg then topped with a brown sugar cinnamon crumble and baked until bubbly. We like to serve it with vanilla ice cream!

There’s nothing quite like a fresh peach, right? They are a wonderful fruit to bake with as they a tart and do really well when sweetened up…kind of like apples! Honestly, any apple dessert recipe can be substituted with peaches. Cinnamon and nutmeg go hand in hand with both fruits.

I have to admit blueberry crisp, apple crisp and now peach crisp are my go-to dessert recipes to bring to a dinner party or casual get together with friends or family. It’s always a hit and even kiddos like it! No need to bring two different desserts! Amen to that!

Golden Peach Crisp with Oats and Brown Sugar.

The oat crumble on top and downright amazing. I could literally snack on it. It’s crispy, buttery, nutty and sweet. I use this crumble on all sorts of recipe – on top of muffins even!

The browned butter really takes this dessert to the next level. It add that nutty flavor that pairs so well with cinnamon and nutmeg. My husband even noticed something different as he’s had several of my fruit crisp recipes. That browned butter is key to this amazing dessert!

A warm and comforting dessert consisting of fresh peaches that are cooked down with sugar and cinnamon and topped with a cinnamon oat crumble. Peach crisp is a delicious fall dessert.

Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 50 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 medium peaches, peeled and sliced 1/2 inch thick
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon (divided)
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups light or dark brown sugar (I used dark)
  • 1 1/2 cups oats (any type and gluten free or regular)
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) + 6 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted), melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients and preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel and slice peaches.
  2. In a large bowl, add peaches, 6 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Stir well and set aside.
  3. Melt butter in a medium sauce pan over medium heat until it starts to lightly brown and smell buttery. This should take about 5 minutes. Watch carefully to not burn. Once you see brown bits forming, take off stove to stop the cooking. Brush 1 tablespoon of butter in a 9X13 pan. Next, add the oats, brown sugar, flour and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and a pinch of salt IF you used unsalted butter. Stir well.
  4. Dump peaches into the prepared 9X13 dish. Top with the oat crumble and bake for about 50 minutes. Remove and let cool slightly. Serve as is or with vanilla ice cream.
