Oh yes. Chicken Wings. I’m guessing these are the most popular “football” food out there? I have no idea why I haven’t posted a recipe for them yet…better late than never!

This is a recipe passed onto me from a family friend and it’s truly AMAZING. It’s simple and to the point. I like that.

Grilled chicken wings in a glass dish, crispy and flavorful, perfect for appetizers or main course, ideal for outdoor barbecues and gatherings.

Here are the simple steps:

1.) season wings with salt and pepper and either pop in your oven or on the grill to cook through and crisp up.

2.) while the wings are cooking, prepare the sauce but heating the butter, buffalo sauce and honey in a saucepan over low heat. This stuff is SO good!

3.) Once wings are cooked through, add to a bowl and pour the sauce all over them. At this point, you could totally eat them. However, I like to put them back in the oven or the grill to caramelize the sauce which makes the wings sticky and delicious.

4.) Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce like ranch or blue cheese along with veggies!

SOME TIPS:

  • You can make these ahead of time and keep warm in the oven. You can even make these the day before, bring to room temp, cover and put in the refrigerator and pop on the grill or put them in the oven before your guests come.
  • You can also bake the wings in the oven first if you don’t have or want to grill. I suggest baking at high heat of 450 so they get nice and crispy for about 25 minutes. Cover with sauce and pop back in for 5-10 minutes.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes 25 seconds
Total Time 35 minutes 25 seconds

Ingredients

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup buffalo sauce
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 20 chicken wings (drums and wings separate)*
  • Blue cheese dressing or ranch (optional)
  • Veggies for serving

Instructions

  1. Season chicken wings with salt and pepper and grill over medium heat until cooked through and nicely charred, about 15-20 minutes
  2. While wings are cooking, prepare the sauce.
Add butter, honey and buffalo sauce to a sauce pan and place over medium heat. Once butter has melted and it as started to simmer, remove from stove and stir.
  3. Once wings are done grilling, add to a large bowl and pour sauce all over wings tossing to coat. You can enjoy them like this or you can put them back on the grill for a few minutes to make them stickier.
  4. If you don't have a grill, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Bake wings for 25 minutes, toss in the sauce and throw back in the oven for another 10 minutes to get extra sticky. Enjoy!

Notes

*Sometimes when you purchase wings, the wing and the drum are not separated so when I say 20 wings, I mean 10 wings and 10 drumsticks. Ask your butcher to cut them for you if they aren't already cut into wings and drumsticks. You can of course grill them together but they are a little awkward to eat.
